Theatre Historian, Editor, Professor, Designer, Administrator

I trained as a theatre historian and scenic designer at Grinnell College and Indiana University, before assuming a faculty position at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. I currently serve as the Editor in Chief of USITT’s flagship publication, Theatre Design & Technology (TD&T) and recently completed two terms as Chair of the English Department at Marist.

At Marist, I teach a wide variety of classes in theatre, drama, writing, and literature, as well as mentoring students and designing scenery for Marist Theatre. My current scholarship centers on amateur theatre between 1870 and 1920 in the United States, with a primary focus on NYC amateur performers.
